The Muse was commissioned as a welcoming figure to Hotell Refsnes Gods in 2007 by the Hotel's proprietor, Widar Salbuvik. The Hotel, situated by the seaside on the island of Jeløy in Moss, Norway, has one of the largest permanent art collections in Norway, with over 400 works by more than 90 contemporary artists, including works of Edvard Munch and Andy Warhol.
Alongside these works are 3 other sculptures of mine, 'The Deluge', '3 Graces', and 'Dawn'. Dawn is the original maquette to The Muse and has the honour of standing in the Munch Restaurant alongside the old Norwegian master's lithographs.
